Classroom

Adjei has been the epitome of a student-athlete in his time at the University of Dayton, finding just as much success in the classroom as on the field.

Coming from the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana, Adjei appreciates and understands the opportunity he has been given to get a top-tier education. He has taken full advantage of that, even with English being a second-language. Adjei has accumulated a 3.18 GPA while majoring in general studies.

Adjei plans to play professionally after graduation this spring. He hopes to pass along his knowledge to the next generation by going into coaching when that dream is completed. With Adjei’s work ethic and dedication, he has all of the tools to be successful in his future endeavors.

Character

When asked about growing up in Ghana, Adjei says that “it was about survival.” His parents worked multiple jobs to help raise him, his three siblings, and his adopted cousin, whom he called his brother. When Adjei saw that he had the opportunity to go to the prestigious Right to Dream Academy through soccer and help alleviate some burden on his family, he took full advantage.

Adjei started young with the mindset that “any dream you have for yourself has to benefit the whole family or community and not just yourself.” He has lived with that philosophy since he was a child and still plays the game today like it is a privilege, not a right.

Adjei has already made his impact on the men’s soccer program, the Dayton community, and everyone he interacts with. He truly understands how lucky he is to be able to play the sport he loves and get an education.

Community

Adjei is on the front line of numerous community service projects at Dayton as a leader of the program. Some of the philanthropies that he has volunteered with include: Breast Cancer Walk, Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness, Trotwood Soccer Academy, Christmas on Campus, Dayton Children’s Hospital, and the Boys and Girls Club. Even during COVID-19, Adjei and his teammates have continued to give back to the community through fundraisers and Zoom calls.

Coming from humble beginnings, Adjei knows the importance of service, one of the core pillars at Dayton. His positive personality and approachability invites young fans to support him, and he is happy to pose for photos or sign an autograph. The University of Dayton focuses on being part of the community, and there is no better example than Adjei.

Competition

Adjei has been a dominant force for Dayton soccer during his time with the Flyers, earning A-10 Midfielder of the Year honors twice. Through two seasons, he has been named to the A-10 All-Conference first team twice, All-Midwest Region second team, A-10 All-Tournament team, and All-Southeast Region third team.

In 24 starts, the attacking midfielder has total 18 goals and 11 assists for a 1.95 points per game average. In his debut campaign, Adjei racked up 11 goals and five assists. He led Dayton during the shortened 2020-21 season with team-highs of five goals and four assists.

This past summer, he competed in the USL2 Development League and was ranked as the top prospect in the nation while leading his team to a league championship.

In the early portion of his senior season, Adjei already has two goals and two assists through three games, acting as the focal point of one of the top offenses in the nation.
